Directors
Sarah has worked with children for over 20 years in many different homes both local authority and private.
Throughout this time Sarah has seen some great examples of progress and outcomes for children, but also some poor examples of care given which made her want to fight harder to give children the best chance possible to thrive and have positive experiences.
This pushed Sarah to open her own company as she knew that she could provide care for children that exceeds this expectation.
Sarah has strived for a high standards of nurturing and loving care for children and only having people in the company who fits into the Ethos and is able to deliver this care.
Myself and Sarah set up Safe Haven ACG Ltd in late 2019 just before the global challenges of the covid pandemic hit us all.
I have been in business as a Company Director for the past 19 years and before this I was running my own businesses. I was the national sales Manager for a large plc company reporting directly to the CEO and the board of Directors.
Through my career I have gained a vast knowledge of both business and management and I use this skill set to bring Safe Haven ACG Ltd to the forefront of what is now acknowledged as a premium loving care company with Ofsted ratings of good and outstanding in all areas within the homes.
My vision for Safe Haven is very clear, and that is with the help and guidance of our very driven team we will continue to provide the very best loving care for our children and become big enough to matter yet still small enough to care.
Senior Managers
I began my career in this field as a foster carer specialising in sibling groups and complex needs. I was a foster carer for 3 years, during this time I developed a professional curiosity around residential care and understanding this further, so began working in residential care alongside being a foster carer.
I began working in residential children's homes four years ago. I have spent this time working in both emotional and behaviour difficulties homes and learning difficulties homes and supported children with varied support needs.
I have trained in PACE, attachment and DDP with clinical psychologist Kim Golding CBE and found this Invaluable in the way in which I approach the care we provide for our children.
It is important for me to be able to support children who are not able to be with their family at this time, but provide somewhere they feel safe and cared for and are supported to thrive and not just survive. To understand they have people surrounding them who will support and encourage them to be the best version of them self they can be.
I have 4 amazing dogs and in my spare time I often spend a lot of time taking them for walks and teaching them new tricks. I also enjoy going to the cinema, bowling and watching football.
My name is Debbie Newton and I have worked in children’s services for over 23 years. During this period I have grasped every opportunity to strengthen my practices to safeguard and promote the welfare of our children, aiming to support better outcomes.
I am a Qualified Social Worker who has supported many families in the community but my heart lies within children’s homes where I have completed direct work with children as a support worker, progressed to a Deputy’s role, then Registered Manager. Through my determination to achieve high standards, I worked hard to obtain my Level 3 in Children’s Workforce, Level 5 and Level 7 in Leadership and Management.
Part of my caring journey has been to step into the role of area manager where I was fortunate to have launched sister homes for the company where I have provided training and guidance to new employees and monitored the compliance and Quality Standards in line with requirements.
I am now in the position of ‘Acting Responsible Individual’ where I am providing a wider range of support to our home’s managers. This is an exciting role and allows me quality time with all our adults developing their practices, but more importantly I have the privilege of working closely with our children to ensure that they are given every possible opportunity to reach their aspirations. Although this role is in the early stages, I feel Safe Haven has a valuable ethos to demonstrate genuine ‘love’ for the children we care for and can evidence that through outcome. For this reason I will embrace my responsibilities with pride and work above and beyond for Safe Haven and our children.
Heather has looked after children living in children’s homes for nearly 7 years and has loved every minute, but her passion for doing her part in striving for positive outcomes for children started long before that. Heather’s family have been foster carers for over 60 years and in that time she has seen the impact a safe, trustworthy, reliable adult can have on a child who has experienced harm and is dedicated to being that for the children she cares for. Heather’s goal is to create a homely, comforting environment for children where they feel able to process their trauma and can recognise how truly special they are following the Lovin’ Care approach.
Heather has completed PACE, social pedagogy and therapeutic crisis intervention training and is passionate about continuing her development to be in the best position to support her children.
Heather’s affinity for protecting children who need a safe adult extends to animals too and in her time she has rescued cats, dogs, lizards, rats, fish and even stick insects!
I have been working with children for over 4 years and have completed my level 3 diploma. I am currently completing my level 5 in Leadership & Management. I have worked at Safe Haven for over 2 years and during this time I have worked as a Therapeutic Leader and a Deputy Manager, gaining experience working across different homes in the company.
I love meeting new children, getting to know them and building really strong connections with them to make them feel loved and cared for. I am extremely child focused and always go above and beyond for the children I support.
I spend my time away from my role, with my family enjoying adventures together. I love animals and I have a dog and a cat. I bring my dog to see the children sometimes and they love spending time with them.
